The Latest Technology

by Lindsey Pitzer

Everyone wants to have the latest things and newest technology out on the market. Consumers spend lots of money every year on all the new products that are available to them. They spend all this money, and they still know that something new will come out the next year that is even better. These products can be anything like the ipod, X-BOX, Playstations, iPhone, etc. So I would say that the self interest in these types of products must be high to consumers that buy them, and the marginal benefits must exceed the marginal cost.

So the producers of the new G1 are hoping that these factors help move their product, which will be out on the market October 22. The G1 is a new cell phone that has just came out by T-Mobile. It is similar to a lot of the “smart phones” such as the iPhone. The G1 is going to by sold at a price of $179 with a two year contract. That puts the cost of this phone lower than the price of the iPhone that has already been out for a while now. Now with the competiton of the G1, the producers of the iPhone may have to decrease their price and the supply of their smart phones.

The unique thing that has everyone talking about the G1 is that it’s the first phone to run Android Software. This means that the G1 will have an advanced web browser, and it will also have most of the Google services. It actually has Google on the back of the phone. The G1 will have faster web access and application downloads. The rest of the phone has mostly common features like the calendar, contact list, etc. The G1 has a touch screen and a slide keyboard, which is also common in many phones.

This phone will be highly desirable to many consumers. There are many people that pay to have internet on their phone. It will also be highly helpful to business people who are always on the go because of its fast web access and application downloads. Having the faster web service will be a marginal benefit to many consumers.

So the producers of the new G1 and Google are more than likely going to see a high demand for this phone by many consumers because of its low price and brand new technology that no other phone yet uses.
